- Stage
- Gage height in feet — how high the water surface sits above the gage’s zero reference (its datum). The Mojave’s channel is usually dry, so this mostly tracks the water table in the gravel below the surface.
- Flow
- Streamflow in cubic feet per second (cfs). 0 cfs means no water is running on the surface — the river is flowing underground.
- Rise rate
- How fast the stage is changing (ft per hour) over the last few hours. A sharp rise is the early-warning signal.
- Level
- River state at this sensor — Dry = no detectable flow, Subsurface flow = water flowing below the riverbed (common for the Mojave’s losing reach), At surface = water at ground level, Surface flow = water running on the surface, Flooding = above NWS flood stages.
- Depth to water
- How far below the riverbed surface the water currently sits. Estimated from USGS terrain elevation at each gage (±1–3 ft). 0 = water at the surface.
